Vasilis Tsitsanis is a milestone of the Greek music history. He is considered as the "father" of rebetiko song, the composer who managed to establish this special form of folk song (rebetiko, plural rebetika), that was common to groups of "marginal" people (convicted, outlaw, drug addicted etc), as a fully accepted kind of songs by the whole greek society. Tsitsanis' musical genius, influenced greatly all later great folk composers, who created the popular "laiko" style, based on the roots of rebetiko. This compilation includes original and rare recordings of well known Tsitsanis' compostitions with the authentic "rebetes" singers, selected from the precious archive of the National Greek Radio Foundation. A collector's item in lossless.
