An unidentified man, grimacing and sweating profusely, is pulled in half by two trucks to which his arms and legs are chained as another man, bound and gagged, watches in horror. So begins Gun Crazy: A Woman from Nowhere, director Atsushi Muroga's low-budget piece of East-West cinema incest. The film is essentially a remake of Sergio Leone's A Fistful of Dollars, replacing Clint Eastwood's Man With No Name with Saki, a leather-clad, Harley-riding, gun-toting heroine played by Japanese supermodel and television star, Ryoko Yonekura (Musashi). So, what we've got here is a straight-to-video Japanese actioner based on an Italian-made American genre piece, itself a remake of a classic Japanese film, Akira Kurosawa's Yojimbo. What's odd is Muroga riffs solely on Fistful, showing little or no awareness of its Japanese source. He even backs Saki's entrance and final shootout with a piece of music so similar to Ennio Morricone's familiar score it's probably a copyright violation. The windy, dusty shot of Saki's slow approach during the climactic duel evokes both Leone and Kurosawa, but only because the former borrowed so literally from the latter. The billowing of our heroine's leather overcoat, looking like the dusters in Once Upon a Time in the West, is pure homage to Leone.

In Vienna, about 1900, a dashing man arrives at his flat, instructing his manservant that he will leave before morning: the man is Stefan Brand, formerly a concert pianist, planning to leave Vienna to avoid a duel. His servant gives him a letter from an unknown woman, which he reads. In flashbacks we see the lifelong passion of Lisa Berndle for him: first as a girl who was his neighbor; next as a young woman who, in secret, has his child; then as a mature woman who meets him again and abandons husband and son to be with him. Each time he does not remember who she is or that they have ever met. By morning, he has finished the letter, and her husband awaits satisfaction.

Eugene (Sam Milby) arrives in Bukidnon with only one intention: to forget his problems at work. But when he meets Raffy (KC Concepcion) and as they travel and go on ridiculous and death-defying activities together, they start to form a friendship that goes beyond Euge's original plan. Raffy helps Euge appreciate himself more and to look at things in a positive way. With Raffy, Euge begins to believe in himself again. Soon, against his own expectations, he admits to himself that has fallen in love with this girl. But life is truly ironic. The moment Euge expresses his feelings for her, Raffy suddenly starts to push him away. She admits that he can never have her, and she doesn't want Eugene to hope for a happy ending with her, because she cannot be loved. Now, it is Euge's turn to make Raffy believe in love again, just as how she reminded him to believe in himself. But is faith enough to change the course of their destiny…

Russell's avowed purpose with Whore was to avoid the glamorous depiction of prostitution common to such slick Hollywood products as Pretty Woman. As played by Theresa Russell (no relation to Ken), the eponymous character lives a hellish existence. Relating her story directly to the camera, Russell introduces us to her no-good former husband (Jason Saucier), her brutish pimp, and the kinkiest of her "johns." Her one true friend, a bag man named Rasta, also saves her life – but not her soul.
