One of the most prolific popular songwriters of the 20th century, Harry Warren had a long life and a productive career. Warren published over 900 songs covering almost every popular music style. Between 1935 and 1950 twenty-one of his songs made it to #1 on the radio show Your Hit Parade. He won eleven Academy Award Best Song nominations and three Oscars. His piece "Chattanooga Choo Choo" sold over a million copies, making it the first gold record in history.1932 saw Warren's career rise to new heights. He was asked to score the movie musical 42nd Street with lyricist Al Dubin. The phenomenal success of this movie led to a decades-long career scoring movie musicals in partnership with Dubin. The Warren and Dubin legacy produced the popular Gold Diggers series, Dames and many others. Together they created enduring songs like the Gold Diggers theme "We're in the Money " and "I Only Have Eyes for You."

Belafonte returned to Carnegie Hall in 1960, and released a second live album in much the same mold as the first. Surprisingly–or perhaps not so surprisingly given Belafonte's endless talent and charisma—„Belafonte Returns to Carnegie Hall Live“ is almost as wonderful as its predecessor.

"Love Is a Gentle Thing" is an album by Harry Belafonte, released by RCA Victor in 1959. It was recorded with arranger / conductors Alan Greene and Bob Corman. The featuring a set of folk-themed songs. Billboard magazine chose Love Is a Gentle Thing as one of their "Spotlight Winners of the Week" in March 1959, and wrote that "Belafonte displays his usual tender, feelingful vocal style on a group of expressive folk themes with varying moods".

This aptly named set was recorded on November 28, 1972, in Barcelona, Spain. Although many of Ben Webster's European sessions suffered when compared to his American ones, this outing is one of the exceptions, due in no small part to the fluid piano work of Tete Montoliu. Supported by a rhythm section of Eric Peter on bass and Peer Wyboris on drums, both Webster and Montoliu have plenty of room to breathe, and the result is a wonderful and pleasant set highlighted by the opening track, "Ben's Blues," and an easy, elegant version of "Sweet Georgia Brown." Webster's trademark breathy tenor sax tone is in full supply here, but the real revelation is Montoliu, who proves to be a marvelous jazz pianist, making Gentle Ben somewhat of an overlooked gem.
