DICKEY BETTS has been a ramblin' man since quitting high school to play rock 'n' roll in a traveling circus called World of Mirth. He would do about a dozen shows a day on the Teen Beat stage at fairgrounds from Canada all the way down the eastern seaboard. On stages from city to city, this is where Betts has always thrived and cemented his reputation as one of the greatest guitarists of all time. An original member of the Allman Brothers Band, he first found fame and fortune with the release of their 1971 live album "At Fillmore East" Betts played a key role in making the Allman Brothers stadium-filling stars in the mid-'70s then returned the band to prominence in 1989, keeping the group among rock's vanguard through the '90s. As leader of his Great Southern group during the 2000s, Betts continued to play stages around the world, elating fans from Chicago to Tokyo.

Hittin' the Note is the twelfth and final studio album by the American Southern rock group the Allman Brothers Band. Released through Sanctuary Records, it was their first studio album to include lead slide guitar player Derek Trucks and bass player Oteil Burbridge and marked the full-time return of guitar player Warren Haynes to the band. It was also their first (and only) studio album not to include original guitarist Dickey Betts. The CD was recorded live in the studio in New Jersey in December 2001 with lead vocal and minor overdubs recorded in early 2002. It was the first Allman recording co-produced by bandmember Haynes and Michael Barbiero. The album also marked the band's exit from Sony/Epic Records and was released jointly by Sanctuary Records and the band's Peach Records.

Idlewild South is the second studio album by American rock band the Allman Brothers Band. With the exception of one song, the album was produced by Tom Dowd and was released on September 23, 1970 in the United States, by Atco Records and Capricorn Records. Following the release of their 1969 debut, the Allman Brothers Band toured the United States extensively to promote the album, which had little commercial success. Their performances, however, did create positive word of mouth exposure that extended to more famous musicians, such as Eric Clapton, who invited group leader Duane Allman to contribute to his 1970 album Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs. As a result of the band's relentless touring schedule, Idlewild South was recorded gradually over a period of five months in various cities, including New York, Miami, and Macon, Georgia, the band's adopted home.
