Concerning the monthly DJ-only remix service issues, the US branch of DMC issued individual issues or sets that had some different track listings than the UK DMC releases due to licensing issues. Thank You for the Music also formed part of ABBA: The Movie which featured studio recordings of selected songs from the then newly released album ABBA: The Album. The song is included in the final scenes as the hapless journalist finally gets to broadcast his ABBA radio special, including an interview, on Australian radio.

Abba took a risk by launching this 1975 album (their second) with "Mamma Mia." How do you possibly follow that up? Simple–wait two songs and then zoom into "SOS," one of the best pop songs ever written. The rest of the album does not quite reach those dizzying heights, but it's strong nevertheless. Abba is all over the map, as if the band was still putting the finishing touches on its identity. Some songs, most notably "Hey, Hey Helen" and "Rock Me," are sustained by classic glam, Gary Glitter-like riffs. There's also the neoclassical, quasiprog instrumental "Intermezzo No. 1." This CD's two bonus tracks include the rather banal "Crazy World" (the B-side of the "Money, Money, Money" single) and the downright bizarre "Pick a Bale of Cotton/On Top of Old Smokey/Midnight Special." The only cover Abba ever recorded, this medley was recorded in 1975 for a German charity album and was remixed in 1978 for the B-side of the "Summer Night City" single. ~ Elisabeth Vincentelli

The campiest band of all time (and perhaps the only one to have a long-running popular musical based on their music and career,) Swedish sensation ABBA have won some kind of place in the hearts of millions. The perfectly polished pop group enjoyed a renaissance of sorts when their music was heavily featured in the cult Australian film, MURIEL'S WEDDING. This video, GOLD, is a diverse collection of some of their greatest hits – from "Dancing Queen" to "Mamma Mia" to "Waterloo."

The most commercially successful pop group of the 1970s, ABBA put Sweden on the map as a music mecca and influenced the sound of pop for decades to come. With their flamboyant fashion sense and two-couple membership, the quartet also became pop culture icons. However, it was their distinctive harmonies and intricate production (combining folk, pop, rock, and even classical) introduced on songs from their 1973 debut album, Ring Ring, that won them countless fans. It's a sound that garnered the first Swedish win at Eurovision in 1974 with "Waterloo," the title track from their second album and a song that topped the charts across Europe while reaching the U.S. Top Ten.

The most commercially successful pop group of the 1970s, the origins of the Swedish superstars ABBA dated back to 1966, when keyboardist and vocalist Benny Andersson, a onetime member of the popular beat outfit the Hep Stars, first teamed with guitarist and vocalist Bjorn Ulvaeus, the leader of the folk-rock unit the Hootenanny Singers. The two performers began composing songs together and handling session and production work for Polar Music/Union Songs, a publishing company owned by Stig Anderson, himself a prolific songwriter throughout the 1950s and 1960s.
