Adventures of Blake

Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio (or simply Pinocchio) is a 2022 stop-motion animated musical fantasy film directed by Guillermo del Toro and Mark Gustafson (in his feature directorial debut) from a screenplay by del Toro and Patrick McHale.[5] The film is based on Gris Grimly's design from his 2002 edition of the 1883 Italian novel The Adventures of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi. It stars the voices of Ewan McGregor, David Bradley, Gregory Mann, Burn Gorman, John Turturro, Ron Perlman, Finn Wolfhard, Cate Blanchett, Tim Blake Nelson, Christoph Waltz, and Tilda Swinton.

The main protagonists of the adventures are Philip Mortimer, a leading British scientist, and his friend Captain Francis Blake of MI5. The main antagonist is their sworn enemy, Colonel Olrik, who has appeared in all but one of the books. Their confrontations take them into the realms of detective investigation and science-fiction, dealing with such themes as time travel, Atlantis and espionage.

This release’s subtitle, A Collection Of Stirring Scenes & Moving Accidents, hints quite strongly at a bit of a mixed bag where perhaps not everything is totally pulled off. There is, however, a good deal of interest here, notably on the opening track which is a radical and fascinating reworking of Buffalo Springfield’s Bluebird
