Affect And Mathematics Education

This book unites current research to provide new conceptualizations of research problems, and to suggest possible research programs to move the field forward. In studying the existing research, the authors found that the community has maintained its focus on problems of learning, teaching, teacher education, assessment, technology, and social and cultural aspects of mathematics education, while some new areas of interest have emerged or been expanded.

This book brings together a collection of research-based papers on current issues in early childhood mathematics education that were presented in the Topic Study Group 1 (TSG 1) at the 13th International Congress on Mathematical Education (ICME-13), held at the University of Hamburg in 2016. It will help readers understand a range of key issues that early childhood mathematics educators encounter today.

The book is made up of 21 chapters from 25 presentations at the 23rd MAVI conference in Essen, which featured Alan Schoenfeld as keynote speaker. Of major interest to MAVI participants is the relationship between teachers’ professed beliefs and classroom practice.
