Since then the Omar Souleyman Band have also performed their unique brand of Kurdish Dabke Techno as far afield as Australia. This CD documents the very best of those shows, including nine live recordings made on three continents, all edited and assembled by Sublime Frequencies associate Mark Gergis.

Since their debut album Trail of the Hunter Gatherers launched in 2010 at the prestigious Ashkenaz Festival in Toronto, the bold compositions and brilliant playing of Zebrina have caught the attention of legendary New York-based music producer, composer and performer, John Zorn, and his experimental music label Tzadik Records. In May 2013, Zebrina went into the studio to record their sophomore album Hamidbar Medaber (The Desert Speaks), with special guest and klezmer pioneer, San Francisco-based Ben Goldberg (New Klezmer Trio, Unfold Ordinary Mind, Tin Hat) on clarinet.

Polish composer and trumpeter Tomasz Stanko's career has been long and varied – from working with the legendary Krzysztof Komeda in the 1950s and '60s, to his own work that ranges form hard bop to electronic improvisation. A wonderful illustration of that principle is his association with Manfred Eicher's ECM label. This volume, in the excellent Rarum series, begins with Stanko's first date as a leader for ECM in 1975 on the album Balladyna. There are two selections from the set highlighting what was well-known at the time as his radical "predatory lyricism" method of composition and soloing.
