Airelle Besson

Trumpeter Airelle Besson signs " Try ! ", his second album as a leader. At the head of her quartet, which brings together singer Isabel Sörling on vocals, pianist Benjamin Moussay and drummer Fabrice Moreau, she offers a mesmerizing opus. Between aerial reverie and luminous counterjour, the ear floats and escapes the earthly attraction.

Trumpeter, composer and arranger, Airelle Besson has made a name for herself on the European jazz scene with her clear and powerful playing. Virtuoso but never too demonstrative, her sound centres on emotion and musicality. Trained in both classical and jazz fields, her major influences are Bach and Keith Jarrett. Winner of the Django-Reinhardt prize of the Académie du Jazz and awarded the Victoires du Jazz in the “French Instrumental Revelation of the Year” category, Airelle Besson is as much a sought-after side-woman as well as a leader and an established composer.

Following the acclaimed album ‘Prelude’ with guitarist Nelson Veras, Airelle Besson, winner of the French Jazz Academy ‘ Django Reinhart Award ’ and nominated ‘ Breakthrough Artist of the Year’ by the French ‘ Victoires du Jazz ’, is now back on the scène with her quartet. This new , much reflected upon project brings together Isabel Sorling on vocals, Benjamin Moussay on piano, Fender Rhodes, keyboards and Fabrice Moreau on drums. Once again, the magic works. Sorling’s voice enfolds the compositions singing in English or being used simply as instrument. One is invited to go on a journey, a dreamlike journey, sometimes melodic and whispered, sometimes rhythmic and organic, where emotion waits at each turning. "Aïrés" is an inventive jazz project from award-winning musicians Airelle Besson (trumpet), Stéphane Kerecki (bass), and Édouard Ferlet (piano). In addition to original compositions by all three members of the trio, the album also includes their reimaginings of classical pieces by J.S. Bach, Ravel, Tchaikovsky, and Fauré, making for an engaging and varied listen from a top-notch ensemble.
