An Introduction to Teichmüller Spaces

An Introduction to Teichmüller Spaces by Yoichi Imayoshi , Masahiko Taniguchi
English | PDF | 1992 | 291 Pages | ISBN : 4431681760 | 22.1 MB

The problem of how to parametrize the variations of complex structures on a fixed base surface originated with G. F. Bernhard Riemann. This problem has spurred extensive investigations, and progress has been considerable in the areas of the theory of Riemann surfaces, algebraic geometry, and differential geometry.

Topology of Singular Spaces and Constructible Sheaves By Jörg Schürmann
English | PDF | 2003 | 461 Pages | ISBN : 3034894244 | 35.1 MB

Assuming that the reader is familiar with sheaf theory, the book gives a self-contained introduction to the theory of constructible sheaves related to many kinds of singular spaces, such as cell complexes, triangulated spaces, semialgebraic and subanalytic sets, complex algebraic or analytic sets, stratified spaces, and quotient spaces. The relation to the underlying geometrical ideas are worked out in detail, together with many applications to the topology of such spaces. All chapters have their own detailed introduction, containing the main results and definitions, illustrated in simple terms by a number of examples. The technical details of the proof are postponed to later sections, since these are not needed for the applications.

Symmetry and Spaces: In Honor of Gerry Schwarz by H. E. A. Campbell
English | PDF | 2010 | 220 Pages | ISBN : 0817648747 | 3.9 MB

A group of Gerry Schwarz’s colleagues and collaborators gathered at the Fields Institute in Toronto for a mathematical festschrift in honor of his 60th birthday. This volume is an outgrowth of that event, covering the wide range of mathematics to which Gerry Schwarz has either made fundamental contributions or stimulated others to pursue. The articles are a sampling of modern day algebraic geometry with associated group actions from its leading experts, with a particular focus on characteristic 0 and modular invariant theory.

Equivariant Cohomology of Configuration Spaces Mod 2: The State of the Art

Equivariant Cohomology of Configuration Spaces Mod 2: The State of the Art by Pavle V. M. Blagojević, Frederick R. Cohen, Michael C. Crabb, Wolfgang Lück, Günter M. Ziegler
English | EPUB | 2022 | 232 Pages | ISBN : 3030841375 | 15.3 MB

This book gives a brief treatment of the equivariant cohomology of the classical configuration space F(ℝ^d,n) from its beginnings to recent developments. This subject has been studied intensively, starting with the classical papers of Artin (1925/1947) on the theory of braids, and progressing through the work of Fox and Neuwirth (1962), Fadell and Neuwirth (1962), and Arnol'd (1969). The focus of this book is on the mod 2 equivariant cohomology algebras of F(ℝ^d,n), whose additive structure was described by Cohen (1976) and whose algebra structure was studied in an influential paper by Hung (1990). A detailed new proof of Hung's main theorem is given, however it is shown that some of the arguments given by him on the way to his result are incorrect, as are some of the intermediate results in his paper.

General Topology II: Compactness, Homologies of General Spaces by A. V. Arhangel’skii
English | PDF | 1996 | 265 Pages | ISBN : 3642770320 | 47.4 MB

This volume of the Encyclopaedia consists of two independent parts. The first contains a survey of results related to the concept of compactness in general topology. It highlights the role that compactness plays in many areas of general topology. The second part is devoted to homology and cohomology theories of general spaces. Special emphasis is placed on the method of sheaf theory as a unified approach to constructions of such theories. Both authors have succeeded in presenting a wealth of material that is of interest to students and researchers in the area of topology. Each part illustrates deep connections between important mathematical concepts. Both parts reflect a certain new way of looking at well known facts by establishing interesting relationships between specialized results belonging to diverse areas of mathematics.

Basic Algebraic Geometry 2: Schemes and Complex Manifolds, Third Edition by Igor R. Shafarevich
English | PDF(Repost),EPUB | 2013 | 271 Pages | ISBN : 3642380093 | 5.6 MB

Shafarevich's Basic Algebraic Geometry has been a classic and universally used introduction to the subject since its first appearance over 40 years ago. As the translator writes in a prefatory note, ``For all [advanced undergraduate and beginning graduate] students, and for the many specialists in other branches of math who need a liberal education in algebraic geometry, Shafarevich’s book is a must.''
