The LATER SONS are on a time travel through decades of rock and AOR from the eighties to today. They deliver songs with lots of hit potential and fine hook lines which do not sound dusty or old-fashioned. Actually, they sound exciting throughout the record. The compositions on ‘Rise Up’ meet a contemporary production and mix. Authentic sounds by authentic players and lovers of the rock genre. Experienced artists who know their business. Founding members are the former LIONCAGE musicians Thorsten Bertermann (v) and Torsten Landsberger (dr) who ignited the flame in late 2019 after the split of LIONCAGE.

2023 release, the eighth album by Rival Sons. About Lightbringer, guitarist Scott Holiday said, "When you do two albums back-to-back like this, there are a lot of things to think about. The first record has to pack enough of a punch and tell enough of a story for the second half to have an even bigger impact. We balanced them out with energy and meaning, but the follow-up always needed to deliver a bigger blow. I think Lightbringer provides this." Vocalist Jay Buchanan added, "Darkfighter is a new Rival Sons, and Lightbringer is the clear definition of what we are now. We broke ground on Darkfighter, but Lightbringer is a step beyond the personal innovation and exploration.

Originally formed as a side project towards the last couple of years of Motörhead by Phil Campbell, the former Motörhead guitarist of 32 years, the band decided to take it up a level and revealed the new name of Phil Campbell and the Bastard sons at Wacken Open Air 2016. A self-titled EP was released a few months later. Led by one of the genre’s most respected guitarists and completed by his sons Todd, Tyla and Dane the band emerged onto the 2017 touring circuit powered by a huge amount of good will, a smattering of Motörhead covers and a handful of new songs that crackled with passion and swagger. Landing themselves a prestigious support slot on Guns 'n' Roses 2017 summer stadium run, the Bastard sons hit the ground running.
