So goes the solicitation for this series of one-shot specials focusing on , an unabashedly patriotic superhero who first made his appearance in (March 1941), from Marvel Comics' 1940s predecessor, Timely Comics, and was created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby. He achieved the height of his popularity during World War II as a symbol of the fight against the Axis powers. This series with the long attention-getting title is definitely a tie-in to Marvel Comics' 70th Anniversary and perhaps also functions as Marvel Comics' subtextual patriotic contribution in honor of the soldiers deployed in the Wars the U.S. is now involved; whatever the aim, it has helped generate renewed interest in this iconic figure of comic book history. There have been seven issues published so far, the last released last December 2, 2009 entitled, "Captain America: Theater of War: Prisoners of Duty #1."
