In his new book, the eminent philosopher Andrew Benjamin turns his attention to architecture, design, sculpture, painting and writing.

This volume owes its existence to the generous help and enthusiastic encouragement of so many people over the past four years. It began to germinate in 2008 in preparation for a graduate seminar I taught that fall at the University of Arizona. Over the previous summer, I had begun to read widely in order to choose for my students the most thought-provoking articles on medieval women as artists and patrons. It was an eye-opening experience.

Written sources on Thai history are scarce. It took Hiram Woodward many years of painstaking archaeological and art-historical research to finally piece together this first ever comprehensive survey work on the art and architecture of Thailand from the earliest times until the establishment of the Thai-speaking kingdoms.
