Compilation album released in Spain in 1991 dedicated to the bandoneon player, composer and arranger Astor Pantaleon Piazzolla (Mar del Plata, 1921-92). The CD was released the year after the disappearance of Piazzolla as a tribute to her figure. This CD offers ten songs selected from his vast musical creation. Of course you could not miss the best Piazzolla tango, 'Adios, Nonino', the composition created by reason of the death of his father, Vicente Piazzolla (Nonino). The repertoire brings other songs like 'Bandoneon' or 'Libertango'.
Gotan Project is a musical group based in Paris, consisting of musicians Eduardo Makaroff (Argentine), Philippe Cohen Solal (French) and Christoph H. Müller (Swiss, former member of Touch El Arab).
Argentinean Dino Saluzzi manages to be a great bandeonist and sound different from great Astor Piazzolla. His music is much closer to new age than to "nuevo tango" invented by Piazzolla and Co, his approach is more "down-to-earth" and "minimalistic" yet still bears an influence on Argentinean music . That's what makes him interesting for me and I love this album in particular because of "chamber sound" if you know what I mean. Like you seat in a big dark room next to a fireplace and the guys are playing for you.
