In 2006, Tim Bergling was just a regular teenager living in a small apartment in Stockholm, Sweden. Before his tragic death at the age of 28, he became one of the world's foremost DJs, regularly headlining some of music's biggest events and collaborating with superstars. Avicii:True Stories is Tim Bergling’s own story, told from the inside. Made from his extensive personal and family archive and behind the scenes footage, the film is an unparalleled insight into his life - from his early days posting tracks online and his first gigs, through to global chart-topping success that saw him play to hundreds and thousands of fans internationally. When Tim "Avicii" Bergling passed away on April 20, 2018, he was close to completing a new album. He left behind a collection of nearly finished songs, along with notes, email conversations and text messages that painted a picture of what he wanted the music to sound like.

Avicii, dj dall'incredibile talento, è stato indiscutibilmente un prodigio, un visionario musicale che, attraverso il suo senso della melodia, ha definito l'epoca in cui l'house svedese, e più in generale quella europea, ha conquistato il mondo. La sua comparsa sulla scena musicale è stata come un'esplosione di fuochi d'artificio in una notte stellata. Originario di Stoccolma, Tim Bergling ha vissuto un'ascesa fulminea, fino a diventare uno dei riferimenti della scena pop-elettronica, e ha collaborato con artisti come Madonna, Lenny Kravitz o David Guetta. Ma Tim era anche un giovane introverso e fragile, costretto a crescere a una velocità disumana. Dopo diversi ricoveri d'urgenza, Avicii ha deciso nel 2016 di interrompere definitivamente la sua partecipazione a concerti e festival. Nemmeno due anni dopo, nel 2018, ha posto fine alla sua vita lasciando sconcertato il mondo…

Avicii is a master of dance-music earworms. He can write a twinkling pop jam, a wide-screen fist pumper, or a tuneful ballad unlike any EDM producer—and he shows off that prowess on AVĪCI (01). On “Lonely Together,” Rita Ora delivers gorgeously round, melodic lines over a lush bed of plinking synths. And on “What Would I Change It To,” AlunaGeorge’s Aluna Francis brings bouncing coos to a gentle acoustic number that, if not for its insistent kick drum, would hardly qualify as a dance track at all. Avicii's full pop crossover is all but complete.
