Electric Fields offers modern arrangements of centuries-old vocal music, as well as new compositions, all involving soprano, pianos, and live electronics. The meditative compositions of medieval polymath Hildegard von Bingen are the point of departure for this album. Hildegard's texts soar to the spiritual realm both in Latin and in her invented lingua ignota. Additionally, the vernacular love songs of two composers from the Italian Baroque, Barbara Strozzi and Francesca Caccini, gave inspiration for this album.

Singer Barbara Lea often recalls her idol and friend Lee Wiley on this set of love songs. The backup is uniformly tasteful but changes from song to song with such impressive stylists as trumpeter Johnny Windhurst, baritonist Ernie Caceres, Garvin Bushell (on oboe and bassoon), Dick Cary (the arranger on piano and alto horn), guitarist Jimmy Raney and (on a beautiful version of "True Love") harpist Adele Girard making memorable appearances. Lea's straightforward and heartfelt delivery is heard at its best on such songs as "You'd Be So Nice to Come Home To," "Mountain Greenery," "More than You Know" and "Autumn Leaves" (which is partly taken in French). These interpretations are often touching.

Born from an idea of Hector Zazou’s with the singer Barbara Eramo and the multi-instrumentalist Stefano Saletti, the ORIENTAL NIGHT FEVER project is a re-interpretation of various Disco ‘classics’ from the seventies: "I Feel Love" by Donna Summer, "Y.M.C.A." by the Village People, "Night Fever" and "Stayin' Alive" by the Bee Gees, "You Make me Feel" by Sylvester, "Disco Inferno" by the Trammps, "I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor, "Heart of Glass" by Blondie, "I Want your Love" by Chic and "Ring my Bell" by Anita Ward. Electronic music played on traditional Mediterranean and Oriental instruments to create a mix that reinvents 1970s Disco without losing its original musical energy.
