The final months of Bobby Sands, the Irish Republican Army activist who protested his treatment at the hands of British prison guards with a hunger strike, are chronicled in this historical drama, the first feature film from artist-turned-filmmaker Steve McQueen. Davey Gillen (Brian Milligan) is an IRA volunteer who is sentenced to Belfast's infamous Maze prison, where he shares a cell with fellow IRA member Gerry Campbell (Liam McMahon). Like most of the IRA volunteers behind bars, Gillen and Campbell are subjected to frequent violence by the guards, who in turn live with the constant threat of assassination at the hands of Republicans during their off-hours. Campbell and Gillen are taking part in a protest in which they and their fellow IRA inmates are refusing to wear standard prison-issue uniforms as a protest against Britain's refusal to recognize them as political prisoners, a move that is complicating their efforts to pass information among the other prisoners….

For Stormbringer!, John and Beverley Martyn went to Woodstock, NY, and recorded with several local musicians, including session hands Paul Harris and Harvey Brooks, as well as the Band's Levon Helm. Very much in the mold of the electric Fairport Convention of this period, Stormbringer! sizzles with acoustic interplay and an almost jazzy feel. Highlights include "Woodstock" (not the Joni Mitchell tune) and the title track. ~ James Chrispell

Live and Raw 70/71 is a live album by British rock band Atomic Rooster. It consists of two short concerts, specially-staged at the BBC's Paris Theatre in 1970 and 1971. The original BBC master tapes of these concerts are now lost, and the source was an old tape, belonging to John Du Cann, of a very poor quality off-air recording. Nonetheless, the album is important to Atomic Rooster fans, as there are very few surviving live recordings of the first two lineups of the band.

Other orchestral works include Asyla (CBSO, 1997), Tevot (Berlin Philharmonic and Carnegie Hall, 2007), Polaris (New World Symphony, Miami 2011), Violin Concerto Concentric Paths (Berliner Festspiele and London Proms, 2005), In Seven Days (Piano concerto with moving image - LA Philharmonic and RFH London 2008), and Totentanz for mezzo-soprano, baritone and orchestra (London Proms, 2013).

Sometimes you can judge a book by its cover. Live and Raw: 1970-1971 is indeed live and it is indeed raw. Very raw – nose-bleeding, flesh-tearing, ear-achingly raw. No matter that the two live performances within were broadcast live on the BBC and should, therefore, exist in pristine quality somewhere on earth, this is the view from the other side of the dial, with a tiny mono microphone pressed up against a little transistor radio capturing the only known live recordings of the earliest classic Atomic Rooster lineups: 1970's John du Cann/Vincent Crane/Carl Palmer lineup and the 1971 incarnation that saw Paul Hammond replace Palmer.
