Originally released in 1999 as a follow up to the acclaimed 'Trailer Park' and received a Mercury Music Prize nomination, helping Beth earn a BRIT Award in 2000 for Best British Female. The album also features in the book, '1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die'. The album features the hit singles 'Stolen Car' and 'Central Reservation' and is now re-issued with a second disc of material compiled by Beth. It features key b-sides, including the Spiritual Life Ibadon remix of title track 'Central Reservation' plus unreleased live recordings and demos. The expanded packaging features brand new sleevenotes including a new interview with Beth. "A space cowgirl with a stolen car heart, Beth remembers: listening back to the record now, I enjoy hearing the melodies and how I played with them and the words. The making of records is often a period of redemption for me and the recording of Central Reservation was the actualizing of all my most positive thoughts".

BMG UK gathered nearly all of Beth Orton's brightest moments for Pass in Time: The Definitive Collection. This double-disc set does a decent job presenting Orton's undeniable gift as an artist, and those who are introduced to her for the first time here will be thoroughly impressed. Those longtime fans who already own her first three albums and the Best Bit EP might be puzzled at Pass in Time's unfashionably early arrival; however, the 24-song compilation merits the same consideration given to Orton's previous work.

“Through the writing of these songs and the making of this music, I found my way back to the world around me – a way to reach nature and the people I love and care about. This record is a sensory exploration that allowed for a connection to a consciousness that I was searching for. Through the resonance of sound and a beaten up old piano I bought in Camden Market while living in a city I had no intention of staying in, I found acceptance and a way of healing.” - Beth Orton

On her stunning sophomore album, Central Reservation, Beth Orton slips free of the electronic textures that colored her acclaimed 1996 debut, Trailer Park, stripping her music down to its raw essentials to produce a work of stark simplicity and rare poignancy. With the exception of a pair of Ben Watt-produced tracks ("Stars All Seem to Weep" and a remix of the title cut), Central Reservation rejects synthetic sounds and beats altogether in favor of an organic atmosphere somewhere between folk, jazz, and the blues; the focal point is instead Orton's evocatively soulful voice, which invests songs like "Sweetest Decline" and "Feel to Believe" with remarkable warmth and honesty. It's a risky move creatively as well as commercially – after all, the club culture was the first to champion Orton's talents – but it pays off handsomely; for all its brilliance, elements of Trailer Park already feel dated, but the new material possesses a timelessness that recalls the best of Nick Drake or Sandy Denny, with a haunting beauty to match.

The foundations of the songs on Orton's stunning 2022 album, 'Weather Alive', are nothing more than her voice and a 'cheap, crappy' upright piano installed in a shed in her garden, conjuring a deeply meditative atmosphere that remains long after the final note has evaporated. 'I am known as a collaborator and I'm very good at it. I'm very open to it. Sometimes, I've been obscured by it', says Orton, who rose to prominence through '90s-era collaborations with William Orbit, Red Snapper and The Chemical Brothers before striking out on her own with a series of acclaimed, award-winning solo releases. 'I think what's happened with this record is that through being cornered by life, I got to reveal myself to myself and to collaborate with myself, actually'.

Bert Jansch, legendary songwriter and guitarist, is widely acknowledged as one of the most influential musicians of all time. Since the mid 1960s generation after generation have been enraptured and amazed by his extraordinary ground-breaking guitar playing and classic emotive songs. Jimmy Page, Neil Young, Nick Drake, Johnny Marr, Bernard Butler and Beth Orton have all been devotees, and today another new generation of musicians and fans, led by Devendra Banhart, are discovering Jansch for themselves.

Bert began performing his unique synthesis of folk, blues and jazz on the folk club scene of the early 1960s, having hitch-hiked to London from his hometown of Edinburgh. His first album, Bert Jansch (played on a borrowed guitar and recorded on a reel-to-reel tape deck in someone's apartment) was legendarily sold to the Transatlantic label for ú100. On its release in April 1965, Bert Jansch caused a sensation for its innovative guitar technique and powerful songs, and it has been phenomenally influential to this day, cited by legions of guitar players (famous and otherwise) as a major inspiration.

Bert's new album The Black Swan was released on Sanctuary on September 18 (except USA and Canada) and has been receiving fantastic reviews across Europe. Producer Noah Georgeson (Joanna Newsom – Milk-Eyed Mender, Devendra Banhart – Cripple Crow) worked with Bert on the record, as well as a number of guests including Devendra Banhart, Beth Orton, Otto Hauser (Espers, Vetiver), Helena Espvall (Espers), Kevin Barker (Currituck Co.), Paul Wassif and Adam Jansch.
