Tongue-in-cheek humor prevails in Batman, a witty homage to the Dynamic Duo's exaggerated exploits. The Caped Crusaders (Adam West and Burt Ward) are called in as a last resort when the criminal masterminds of the millennium team up to conquer Gotham City by turning the U.N. Security Council into dehydrated dust; among the villains are the Joker (Cesar Romero), Catwoman (Lee Meriwether), the Riddler (Frank Gorshin), and the Penguin (Burgess Meredith). The entire cast is excellent, particularly West and Ward, who distinguish themselves among a standout list with hilariously straight-faced performances. The film includes some truly memorable scenes, highlighted by a particularly tenacious shark with a vertical leap that would put Spud Webb to shame and a bomb on the waterfront with no place to explode (nuns, infants and lovebirds beware!).

is a 2010 six-issue comic book limited series published by DC Comics that is a continuation of the DC animated universe (DCAU) television series of the same title. The comic series is penned by Emmy Award-nominated writer Adam Beechen with art by Ryan Benjamin. Beechen stated his comic book arc will open the door for the "legendary" DCAU to enter into the mainstream DC Universe (comics), tying into both continuities. The story features Terry McGinnis, the future Batman, now a seasoned hero, and his mentor Bruce Wayne, the former Batman, dealing with their straining relationship over the demands of the role of Batman, as a new killer emerges with ties to the original Dark Knight's past. The series' story arc actually opened in a single issue focusing on and featuring Terry McGinnis and Superman in which should be read first (link below). Tightly written with strong character development and beautifully blending artwork that is at once reminiscent of, yet an improved departure from, the animated TV series (despite what IGN blowhard Jesse Schedeen says). In library terms this limited series would now be Volume 3 for the title. On October 6, 2010, it was announced at the New York Comic-Con that would start as an ongoing series in January 2011. All high-quality Minutemen scans.

is a combination of history about the Batman's origins and an in-depth exploration of the lives of the Dark Knight himself. By "lives" I refer to the number of resets the Gotham Crusader has had over the years to satisfy and adjust for the new fans, not to mention sorting out the complexities of an ever complex DC Universe's multiple Earths and that in real time, Batman as a comicbook has been going since 1939. In that respect, authors Robert Greenberger and Matthew K. Manning have done a remarkable job in explaining them all and in context so that anyone or even a novice to all the variants should come away with a deeper understanding of what's been going on and no doubt recognize his or her own Batman. The book also includes an assortment of rare collectibles that can only be found in this collection. A must-have for Batman fans of all ages.
