Beat Goes On

"The Beat Goes On" is an album of songs arranged as a tribute to the 1960's by Canadian jazz singer Emilie-Claire Barlow. Featuring Barlow's own arrangements of tunes by Burt Bacharach, Neil Sedaka and Donovan, among others, it is Barlow's eighth studio album.

Disco Delight brings together 40 dance-floor classics from the days when disco balls and glitter reigned! This 2-CD set features hits, DJ favorites and lost gems from the likes of Amanda Lear, Ami Stewart, Shalamar, The Whispers, Shirley & Co, Loleatta Holloway, Midnight Star, Positive Force, Real Thing and more artists who enjoyed immense popularity during the thrilling disco era.

The Whispers En activité depuis 1963, le groupe vocal américain The Whispers voit le jour dans le quartier de Watts, à Los Angeles. La formation des frères jumeaux Wallace et WalterScott (nés le 23 septembre 1943) est surtout connue pour les hits « And the Beat Goes On » (1980) et « Rock Steady » (1987), classés numéros un des charts R&B. Elle cumule néanmoins les disques d'or et de platine et engrange une cinquantaine de titres classés. Complété par Nicholas Caldwell, Marcus Hutson et Gordy Harmon (remplacé en 1973 par Leaveil Degree), le groupe s'établit dans la baie de San Francisco et enregistre un premier album pour le label Soul Clock, The Whispers (renommé par la suite Planets of Life), avant de signer avec le label Janus Records.
