Beauty Sleep

The Baltic Sea Philharmonic’s latest album Sleeping Beauty will be released on 13 November. The new Sony Classical recording sees Kristjan Järvi conducting the orchestra in his own arrangement of Tchaikovksy’s fairytale ballet Sleeping Beauty.

This sentimental comedy, in turn delightfully amusing and tragicomical, tells a tale of a working-class neighborhood in Zagreb during a ten-year period after the end of the Second World War. It is a story of people who rely on humor and song to survive their anxious times, preserving their traditions and their way of life despite the tumultuous upheavals that surround them.

Anglo-Canadian Tamsin Wilson founded Wilsen when she enrolled at Berklee College of Music in Boston, meeting band mates Drew Arndt and Johnny Simon. The trio relocated to New York after graduation, where they now make 'spectral, towering dream-folk… songs that careen onthe edge of losing control,' (Stereogum). First appearing on the scene with the self-released Sirens double-EP (2013) and Magnolia EP (2014).
