A Danish quartet named in admiration of their prime influence, Kraftwelt re-works the original innovations of Kraftwerk with a sound more in debt to '90s electronic music and trip-hop. The group, also known for their recordings as Audio Science, signed to the stateside industrial label Cleopatra in 1996, releasing the Deranged in Space EP in July and their album debut, "Electric Dimension", later that year. Most tracks hover around the four-minute range and work in some aspect of Kraftwerk’s signature sounds: modulating radio pulses, quirky Moog melodies, bare-bones electro rhythms, starry-eyed looks at futurism. Missing, however, are robot voices, catchy pop moments, and a sense of innovative craftsmanship that defined so much of Kraftwerk’s output…
