Beck Sea Change

Lauded for creating emotive, astute rock with his L.A.-based bands Something Corporate and Jack’s Mannequin, a sea change occurred for prolific pianist-performer Andrew McMahon around 2014. His newest album, "Upside Down Flowers," is McMahon’s third full-length In the Wilderness release. It was produced by Butch Walker (Pink, Weezer, Panic! At The Disco) who also plays drums, bass and guitar on the album along with guest keyboardist Roger Joseph Manning, Jr. of Beck fame, with real strings recorded by Emmy-winning, Tony & Grammy nominated arranger/ composer Rob Mathes at Abbey Road. "Upside Down Flowers’" 11 songs began in McMahon’s Orange County, California home studio, amidst the nostalgia of the neighborhood where the songwriter lived with his family as a teen.

As an actor, David Duchovny isn’t particularly known or cast for his dynamic range. From Fox Mulder on down, he rarely rises much above a gentle monotone. Having embarked on a third career as a musician – following his work as an actor and writer of fiction – it’s little surprise that, in song, he’s not much different from the guy we’ve seen on screens both big and small. This can be both a blessing and a curse, depending on how you feel about Duchovny in general. He’s certainly not the worst actor/musician crossover, but he’s also far from the best. As with his cultivated persona, he falls somewhere in the middle – pleasant, but also somewhat innocuous.

There has always been something captivating about Swedish singer/songwriter Lykke Li. From the minimalist mix of icy electronics and playful indie pop of her 2008 debut "Youth Novels" to the weightier, percussive anthems on "Wounded Rhymes", she has flexed her considerable creative muscle but never quite managed to dial in on a sound that would define her. She manages a tunefulness that aspires to great pop heights, yet retains the wintry austerity of her Nordic roots.

Frozen 2 is the soundtrack to the upcoming Disney film of the same name. The soundtrack was released on November 15, 2019, while the film will be released on November 22. It features seven new songs again composed by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez along with the return of "Reindeer(s) Are Better Than People" from the original movie, in addition to end credits covers of three of the film's new songs by Panic! at the Disco, Kacey Musgraves and Weezer, respectively. The deluxe edition features a second disc of score tracks by composer Christophe Beck.
