In the first decade of her post-Go-Go's solo career, Belinda Carlisle delivered six albums as a mainstream pop artist, notching hits with songs like "Mad About You" and "Heaven Is a Place on Earth." Following 1996's A Woman and a Man, Carlisle largely abandoned her solo pursuits, participating in a handful of Go-Go's reunions and battling a drug addiction that lasted until 2005. Newfound sobriety and the influence of living in France yielded 2007's Voila, an unexpectedly high-quality collection of French pop songs and classic chansons which she sang entirely in French. Now, with another decade in the books, the California native returns with yet another personal passion project in 2017's Wilder Shores.

Reuniting after 35 years, multi-platinum selling artist Belinda Carlisle and iconic songwriter Diane Warren come together to release Kismet - a five-song EP that comes out on Diane's imprint RAF through BMG. Discussing working with Diane Warren, Belinda Carlisle commented, 'Twenty-seven years on from making my last English language pop record I really wasn't thinking I would ever make one again… and I was quite happy with that idea. Then a chance encounter in a coffee shop led me back to the wonderful Diane Warren and she gave me the incredible gift of this song and the other songs on my upcoming EP'. Carlisle goes on to add, 'Diane's songwriting is both a joy and mystery to me. She makes it look so easy, where I imagine it must be unbelievably hard, to do what she does so amazingly well over so many years and so many records. I can't thank her enough for writing this music for me and I only hope everyone else loves it as much as I do'.

Upon leaving the Go-Go's, Belinda Carlisle felt no compunction in leaving behind the band's energetic new wave. On her own, she dove right into the mainstream with the assistance of producer Michael Lloyd, embracing the big radio-ready sheen of the mid-'80s on her 1986 debut, Belinda. The album's lead single (and album opener), "Mad About You," celebrated this shift and she was rewarded with a huge hit, one that went all the way to number three in the U.S. Behind the gloss, however, lay some elements of the Go-Go's, which shouldn't be surprising, considering how Charlotte Caffey wrote half of the record more songs than Carlisle herself.

Belinda Carlisle‘s 1989 album Runaway Horses is to be reissued as a 30th anniversary vinyl box set in August. Carlisle’s third album was her second for Virgin Records and built on the success of 1987’s Heaven On Earth. It delivered six singles, with only ‘Vision of You’ failing to break into the UK top 40 (just – it peaked at #41). After the initial success of the first single ‘Leave A Light On’ (which features George Harrison on guitar) it actually took until the sixth single – ‘(We Want) The Same Thing’ – for Belinda to breach the UK top ten again (sack the A&R man!).
