Bear's Sonic Journals: Sing Out! is a three-CD live album of acoustic music by various artists. It features performances by Jerry Garcia & Bob Weir, Country Joe McDonald, Kate Wolf, Rosalie Sorrels, and the Rhythm Devils. It was recorded at the Berkeley Community Theater in Berkeley, California on April 25, 1981. The album includes a 50-page booklet of essays and photos. It is scheduled to be released on February 23, 2024.

A compilation of four prized artefacts from the mid-1960s West Coast rock renaissance, this CD hopes to make a case for the town of Berkeley as the real birthplace of psychedelic music.People in the UK tend to view the whole of the Bay Area as just "San Francisco" whereas Berkeley, a twenty minute drive east across the Bay Bridge, is a completely separate area, both geographically and intellectually. And it shows.

It’s easy to identify the classical guitar with Spanish repertoire. After all, Andrés Segovia, who revived the fortunes of the instrument in the early decades of the 20th century after long neglect, was a Spaniard. This does not do justice, however, to the major contribution made to 20th-century guitar repertoire by a number of national schools, among which the United Kingdom’s is particularly outstanding for the quantity and quality of the pieces. This album offers a significant sample of music for solo guitar by four important composers: Cyril Scott, Lennox Berkeley, Benjamin Britten and William Walton.

The earliest show on the Darkness tour to be released in the Archive Series, Berkeley 7/1/78 bristles with energy on songs like "Darkness On The Edge Of Town" and "Adam Raised A Cain," along with "Night" and "For You," both of which featured in the early months of the '78 tour. A memorable encore opens with Bruce's definitive solo-piano arrangement of "The Promise", the first live version of the song to be released from 1978, and offers only the second E Street Band performance ever of "Because The Night," with alternate lyrics.

The guitar music of Sir Lennox Berkeley and Michael Berkeley reflects in part their family's close friendship with guitar virtuoso Julian Bream, whose lyrical performance style notably influenced the father's Sonatina, Op. 52/1 (1957), and the Sonata in One Movement (1982), and the Impromptu (1983) by the son.
