"Missing You", which became Ross' final top ten on the Billboard Hot 100 was also produced by former labelmate and collaborator Lionel Richie and was a tribute to late soul singer Marvin Gaye, Ross and Richie's former Motown Records label-mate. Other singles included the Daryl Hall and Arthur Baker-produced "Swept Away" (#19 Pop, #3 R&B, #1 Dance) and the Julio Iglesias duet, "All of You" (#19 Pop, #38 R&B, #2 AC, #1 Spain). When Diana Ross turned to the then lava-hot Chic Organization in late 1979 to produce her, she made one of the smartest moves of her career. Ms Ross was seen as somewhat past her best by this time; she had been a star for best part of 20 years with a diva-esque reputation and three children. Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards' had only been stars for little over two years. It was clear to them both that in order to move forward, Ross had to be turned upside down, come out of the superstar bubble she was in, and most importantly, to have fun again.

"More Hits by The Supremes" is the sixth studio album by Motown singing group The Supremes, released in 1965. The album includes two number-one hits: "Stop! In the Name of Love" and "Back in My Arms Again", as well as the Top 20 single "Nothing but Heartaches". The album opens up with the b-side "Ask Any Girl" from their "Where Did Our Love Go" album, which ironically ended side 2 of their previous album of new material. It was once planned for single release with this new mix. Barney Ales, then an executive vice-president of Motown Records, reported in the August 14, 1965 issue of Billboard magazine the album had advance orders estimated at 300,000. More Hits by The Supremes peaked at #6 on the U.S. Billboard album chart and remained on that chart for 37 weeks. It reached #2 on Billboard's R&B album chart. To further underscore their popularity, each girl's signature was autographed on the album cover. According to Motown data this album managed to sell over 1,675,000 copies.

"Blue", originally titled "The Blue Album", is a studio album by American singer Diana Ross. Initially recorded between late 1971 and early 1972, it was released as Ross' 23rd studio album by Motown Records on June 20, 2006. Overseen by Ross' musical director Gil Askey, the jazz-flavoured album was originally conceived as a follow-up to her soundtrack to the 1972 American biographical drama film "Lady Sings the Blues" in which Ross starred. Berry Gordy and Motown subsequently decided to shelve the album, and Ross' next release was the more pop-orientated "Touch Me in the Morning" (1973) album. On the charts, "Blue" peaked at #2 on the US Billboard Top Jazz Albums, also logging a single week on the Billboard 200 at #146. Its final sales figure was slightly higher than 100,000 US copies.

„Diana Ross would probably be offended by anyone who called her 1980 smash Diana a comeback, but let's face it – after the flop of The Wiz, and the way that the disco revolution steamrollered so many of her Motown compatriots' careers, that's exactly what it was.
