The album was made up of blues and disco with a rock influence. The opening track, "Fruits of the Night", was co-written by Giorgio Moroder's longtime collaborator Pete Bellotte. Turner also included a cover of Bob Seger's "Fire Down Below", which was later covered again by Bette Midler for the 1979 movie The Rose. The album also includes Turner's first cover version of Elton John's "The Bitch Is Back", which she re-recorded in 1991 for the tribute album Two Rooms: Celebrating the Songs of Elton John & Bernie Taupin.

"In Dreams" is the third record from Roy Orbison on Mounument Records, recorded at its studio in Hendersonville, Tennessee and released in 1963. The album is named for the 45-RPM single. In 2004, Rolling Stone named the song "In Dreams" one of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. Half of the cuts on In Dreams were recorded during the sessions for Lonely And Blue. Orbison's voice was never better than on this recording. The heights he reaches on "Lonely Wine", the swaggering country and R&B of "Blue Avenue" and "My Prayer" are simply mind-blowing. This is a must-have from the original two-track master and cut on an all-tube cutting system by Bernie Grundman.

Charlie Parker was born on August 29, 1920, in Kansas City, Kansas. From 1935 to 1939, he played the Missouri nightclub scene with local jazz and blues bands. In 1945 he led his own group while performing with Dizzy Gillespie on the side. Together they invented bebop. In 1949, Parker made his European debut, giving his last performance several years later. The so-called Great Swing Band Era is generally considered to have started in 1935 when Benny Goodman, playing at the Palomar Ballroom in Los Angeles on August 21 and tiring of what he described as 'mundane' dance music, moved his band into high gear and gave out with some Fletcher Henderson arrangements. Quoting saxophonist Hymie Schertzer, "The place exploded." and Goodman was proclaimed 'King of Swing'. But back in the Twenties there were great bands that played good swingy numbers, bands like those of Whiteman, Goldkette, Waring, Weems, Olsen and Lopez (to name but a few), although the 'swing' wasn't quite the same. The rhythm could often seem a little jerky and sometimes rather on the frantic side. Repertoires were laced with novelty tunes which were much in demand. But who cared? It was the 'Jazz Age', the 'Flapper Era' (take your pick) and everyone was hell-bent on having a good time, making whoopee.
