Ron Carter is among the most original, prolific, and influential bassists in jazz. With more than 2,500 albums to his credit, he has recorded with many of music’s greats: Tommy Flanagan, Gil Evans, Lena Horne, Bill Evans, B.B. King, the Kronos Quartet, Dexter Gordon, Wes Montgomery, and Bobby Timmons. In the early 1960s he performed throughout the United States in concert halls and nightclubs with Jaki Byard and Eric Dolphy.

Award-winning Trombonist-arranger-composer Rob McConnell and his Boss Brass big band was a fixture on the Canadian jazz scene. The group was composed of Canada’s premiere jazz musicians, and many of their over two dozen albums have become collectors’ items for big band enthusiasts world-wide. Tribute was the second of three albums released by MPS.

The latest entry in the award-winning Miles Davis Bootleg Series focuses on the final chapter in the landmark collaboration between Davis and saxophonist John Coltrane: their last live performances together, in Europe in the spring of 1960.

But this music was never cold-cool, it was merely played and conceived with what one might call a cool head.

Analogue Productions, the world leader in high quality vinyl production, is thrilled to announce the December 13, 2024 release of Birth of the Blue, a collection documenting the transformative first session in 1958 by the same ensemble that would go on to record Kind of Blue — one of the greatest and greatest-selling jazz albums of all time — the following year. Featuring Davis’ legendary sextet - John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderley, Bill Evans, Paul Chambers, and Jimmy Cobb — who had first come together less than two weeks prior, this historic set was recorded at Columbia’s 30th Street Studio, and captures the origins of a momentous shift in modern jazz.
