Follow-up volumes appeared in 1993 and 1996, extending the time period to 1979 and with additional songs from the 1972-76 period, available on cassette or CD (ALL 25 volumes were issued in both formats). Each volume has twelve songs. Despite the greater capacity of compact discs, the running time of each of the volumes is no longer than the limit of vinyl records in the 1970s, from 38 to 45 minutes long.
It's a superb performance, featuring compositions from the late '60s and early '70s recorded on albums like Crisis and Science Fiction. In fact, the version of "Rock the Clock," one of Coleman's wilder songs, is arguably superior to the official one on the latter album. The group performs Charlie Haden's "Song for Che" in a fashion close to the original Liberation Music Orchestra rendition, including the interpolation of a Spanish protest song during the composer's solo.

This is a 61-track, three-CD set that encompasses a complete chronological run of Patton's recorded output. All of his solo sides are here, his duets with Bertha Lee and Henry Sims and his backup work behind both of them. All previous incarnations of this material don't sound near as good as they do on these three volumes, all of them given the full deluxe Cedarization noise reduction treatment from the Document folks.
