Blanket

Lauren Denitzio has always been the type of songwriter to say exactly what’s on their mind. Over the course of the past decade with their band Worriers, they’ve addressed gender liberation, capitalist violence, and searing heartbreak, all over the band’s signature style of triumphant chords and subtle pop sensibilities

Picking Up the Pieces tells the story of the making of the Witness Blanket, a living work of art conceived and created by Indigenous artist Carey Newman. It includes hundreds of items collected from Residential Schools across Canada, everything from bricks, photos and letters to hockey skates, dolls and braids. Every object tells a story. Carey takes the reader on a journey from the initial idea behind the Witness Blanket to the challenges in making it work to its completion. The story is told through the objects and the Survivors who donated them to the project.

Extrapolating this method, Allen enlisted the guitarist Dave Blenkhorn , with whom he had been touring in Europe on the eve of the pandemic, to make a trans-Atlantic recording: Allen in New York City and Blenkhorn in Bordeaux, France (consider the romance of those locales!). This resulted in Under A Blanket Of Blue (GAC Records, 2020). Both projects successfully showed that creativity is adaptable as necessary, and , at its best, brings everything closer together, in spite of temporal circumstances. Allen's most recent projects highlight the good. They also restore that bit of mystery that is still able to make even the most jaded and cynical among listeners.

At some point growing up, most of us threw a blanket over two chairs and declared it our club house. Artistic duo Grackle & Pigeon have taken the idea a step further—or, rather, they’ve taken the imagination we all had as kids and infused it into 25 artisanal blanket forts. This gorgeous little book is an absolutely stunning look at a wide range of projects that will inspire you to envision cozy hideouts in our living rooms, yards, yoga studios, and work spaces. Each project includes a mix of 4 color photography and charming pen-and-ink instructional illustrations.

Semester is the 2003 debut EP from South Korean soft rock group Linus' Blanket. They began as a quintet but then lost power with the LookmukDAGA and they became a duo before it became a solo project for Yonegene. This was released by Beatball.
