On September 25, 2020, Guns N' Roses' 2004, multi-platinum best of compilation Greatest Hits (Geffen/UMe) will be released on vinyl for the first time. Previously only available digitally and on CD, Greatest Hits will be pressed as a 2LP set on 180gram audiophile black vinyl, a 2LP set on silver colored vinyl with red and white splatter, plus a 2LP picture disc available exclusively through the band's official store.

O Guns N'Roses surgiu em uma época em que o mainstream musical era dominado pelos timbres eletrônicos e trouxe de volta à popularidade o rock cru e pesado, com riffs de guitarra marcantes e músicas capazes de agitar e emocionar. A estreia do grupo californiano, liderado por Axl Rose e amparado pela guitarra de Slash, aconteceu em 1987, com o primeiro disco Appetite For Destruction, que virou rapidamente um clássico por conta das músicas Sweet Child O'Mine e Welcome To The Jungle. Com o enorme sucesso, a banda não demorou para lançar novos discos: em 1988 veio G N' R Lies e, em 1991, os dois volumes de Use Your Illusion, contendo o clássico November Rain. Em 1993, a banda lançou The Spaghetti Incident?. Aos poucos, os membros foram deixando o conjunto, o que ocasionou um grande hiato, encerrado com o álbum Chinese Democracy, de 2008, último inédito do conjunto.

LEGENDARY 1987 UK BROADCAST FROM AN EARLY GUNS N ROSES On 28th June 1987, the recently formed Guns N Roses became the latest addition to a distinguished list of artists who cut their teeth internationally at London s famous Marquee Club. Early followers of the up-and-coming band paid a princely admission fee of £4 to enter the celebrated Wardour Street location and see G N R s first-ever gig outside the US. The show took place in the very week that Guns N Roses first flickered on the UK sales charts. But they were still very much below the radar. The published singles chart was a top 75, so their new release It s So Easy was largely hidden from view as it entered the 20 June listings at No. 84.

Recorded in 1981 and produced by Isaac Hayes, trumpeter and composer Donald Byrd's first recording for Elektra is the sound of a musician who has truly lost his way. Byrd's nearly decade-long collaboration with the Mizell Brothers ended when he left Blue Note for Elektra. It wasn't so much that Byrd left "jazz" for funk and proto-disco, the latter elements had been part of his sound since 1972 with Black Byrd (some would say the real transition to more R&B based music began before that with Fancy Free in 1965). The period with the Mizells, though decried by jazz critics everywhere as a sellout, was a fertile one for Byrd creatively and married his vision of being a viable and accessible artist, one who sought out the direct experience of soul and funk as a way of getting his music across. It was also a successful one commercially - his albums sold to a wider audience and were played on commercial FM radio.

A definite soul based session for Donald Byrd – and that's saying a lot here, because his previous decade's worth of work had all had some sort of R&B focus. The main force behind the set here is Isaac Hayes – who's producing, arranging, and playing most of the keyboards on the album. Oddly, Ike's not singing at all – and vocals are instead handled by Rose Williams, Diane Davis, Pat Lewis, and Myra Walker – plus the Hot Buttered Soul group on backing vocals.
