For the first time we present to the public our own remixes (and a few from other sources) that have been carefully crafted for over a decade to offer the audience a complete new way of listening to the Liverpool quartet. Combining her diva-level vocal power and teen-next-door effervescence, Evelyn "Champagne" King scored a trifecta with "Shame," a Top Ten hit on Billboard's club, R&B, and pop charts across 1977 and 1978. The definitive disco classic was merely the start of a long run with RCA Victor highlighted by 19 additional charting singles and a trio of Top Ten R&B LPs through 1986. Commercial R&B evolved rapidly during this period. King was in on virtually all of the developments, including but not limited to funky disco (backed by members of Instant Funk, whose underappreciated T. Life discovered and first produced her) and pop-flavored post-disco (assisted most prominently by innovators Morrie Brown, Kashif, and Paul Laurence Jones).

There is a transcendental place that musicians can reach during performance. A space where they get lost in the music, letting the years honed skills and natural inclination take control. Many of the exhilarating moments in improvised music come from the sudden shift, the accentuation of razor sharp focus, to get back on course.

No matter how long they’ve been out of the spotlight, nobody should ever have underestimated the hitmaking machine known as the Black Eyed Peas. Putting aside 2018’s MASTERS OF THE SUN VOL. 1—a low-key project that revisited the group’s hip-hop roots without facing the commercial pressure of following up 2010’s presumed farewell The Beginning—this multilingual comeback effort revives their maximalist dance-floor appeal with some help from a fresh set of contemporary stars. With Fergie out of the picture, the majority of the vocal guests here come from Latin America, dutifully representing the reggaetón and Spanish-language pop boom of the moment. The massively successful throwback single “RITMO (Bad Boys for Life)” aligns them with global superstar J Balvin, while Dominican dembow sensation El Alfa brings his signature energy to the throbbing “NO MAÑANA”.
