On Songs of Bob Dylan, Joan Osborne unleashes her sizable gifts as a vocalist and interpreter upon The Bard's celebrated canon. With performances honed by the time Osborne spent polishing them during 'Joan Osborne Sings The Songs Of Bob Dylan' two critically acclaimed two-week residencies she performed at New York City's Café Carlyle in March 2016 and 2017, the seven-time Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum-selling singer and songwriter, whom The New York Times has called 'a fiercely intelligent, no-nonsense singer,' winds her supple, soulful voice around Dylan's poetic, evocative lyrics, etching gleaming new facets in them along the way.

Blonde on Blonde is the seventh studio album by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, released as a double album. Blonde on Blonde completed the trilogy of rock albums that Dylan recorded in 1965 and 1966, starting with Bringing It All Back Home and Highway 61 Revisited. Critics often rank Blonde on Blonde as one of the greatest albums of all time. Combining the expertise of Nashville session musicians with a modernist literary sensibility, the album's songs have been described as operating on a grand scale musically, while featuring lyrics one critic called "a unique mixture of the visionary and the colloquial". It was one of the first double albums in rock music.

It's a rarity for Crystal Cat to release a Dylan show from the USA, but here we have one. There are a few commercial Labels that have released this show that closes out the 2nd annual Rothbury Festival. All have their good and bad points. This one presents a great audio and incredible bonus tracks. It is a soundboard tape that has been remastered by CC. Of course it also includes CC's flair for packaging. There are great photos from the event, and the discs are custom silk screened. As an added bonus, the Cat includes highlights of Dylan performing Together Through Life tunes, covers and songs from other shows around the same time period. Altogether, the discs present two and a half hours of listening pleasure. The theme of the venue is jam-bands, so the band pulls out all the stops and cranks out some great solos. This is one of the better set lists of the tour, and there is a bit of magic woven in to each tune. Speaking of magic, during the concert there was a light misty rain that began to fall at the beginning of High Water, and ended just as the song did. Just another one of those magical moments. Check out Chasing a Shadow for an indepth review of the Rothbury songs. While that was the first release, this version has been remastered and has a different sound that many agree is the better sound.

Folk Rock

If Highway 61 Revisited played as a garage rock record, the double album Blonde on Blonde inverted that sound, blending blues, country, rock, and folk into a wild, careening, and dense sound…
