His corpse is later found in the apartment of David Goodis (Yves Afonso), a writer. Paula is arrested and interrogated. From then on, she encounters many gangsters.

After Joe suggests that the horse has a future as a jumper, Danny converts him to the steeplechase and turns him into a consistent winner.
