Bongiorno

"Love’s Light" is pianist/composer Joe Bongiorno’s tenth album (not counting compilations), and I think it’s his most beautiful work to date. With a theme of the many different forms of love and the people he has shared it with, the music overflows with warm contentment and a peaceful ease. Inspired at least in part by his recent marriage and the birth of his son, Bongiorno’s music has never sounded happier. The closing track is an orchestrated version of the title track, arranged by Doug Hammer and performed by The Dreamworld Symphony. The other twelve tracks are all solo piano, performed on Bongiorno’s magnificent Shigeru Kawai grand and engineered and mastered at his Piano Haven Recording Studio in Sedona, AZ.

"Synfonia" is a collection of ten of pianist/composer Joe Bongiorno’s piano solos fully orchestrated by fellow pianist/composer Doug Hammer. Bongiorno dedicated this album to his father, and his music takes on a completely new dimension with symphonic instrumentation. Hammer has done a masterful job of enhancing Bongiorno’s music without overpowering the beautiful piano sound Bongiorno is so well-known for.

Giulia Bongiorno ricorda a tutte l’urgenza di agire per passare dalla libertà virtuale a quella reale: battendosi quotidianamente per la distribuzione dei doveri familiari nonché per l’approvazione di leggi sacrosante per una parità concreta (dalla previsione dei meccanismi di quote di genere in ogni ambito alla trasmissibilità del cognome materno sino all’introduzione del compenso per il lavoro domestico), con l’ambizione di ottenere anche più degli uomini. Perché soltanto con la disparità a nostro favore è possibile uscire dalla discriminazione. Sono storie di donne che si trovano ancora a combattere contro ingiustizie e abitudini che le relegano in vecchi ruoli e a dover “correre da sole”, scegliendo tra i diversi aspetti di una vita piena, maternità o carriera, indipendenza o affetti familiari.
