Bonobo

Ushering in an exciting new era for the label, nightclub and mix series, Bonobo opens the 'fabric presents' series that pledges CD, digital, and vinyl releases on a quarterly basis. His highly textural aesthetic translates into an ethos that looks to introduce a more open musical palette without losing sight of its past. His mix supports 10 exclusives or unreleased tracks, including 2 from himself and another from his rare pop-up alias Barakas.

Black Sands came out in 2010 to almost universal critical acclaim and worldwide commercial success. Si Green aka Bonobo moved from being an underground producer of impeccable credentials to a poster boy for a new take on electronic music – contemporary and edgy but also soulful, song-based, sometimes lush but always emotional. Black Sands Remixed gathers together a group of like-minded musicians and producers to interpret this classic album. Most of the material here has never been heard before.

It's been almost three years since the release of Bonobo's masterful, mould-breaking Black Sands, an album that saw him touring a hypnotic live show across the world for well over a year. Now, in 2013, he stands ready to take things up yet another notch. 'The North Borders' is a long stride forward - both a natural evolution and a continuation of the electronic palette of Black Sands. Thematic, resonant, addictive and perfectly formed, it's a thrillingly coherent statement piece.

‘Light Shadow/ Boom Boom;’ is a collection of songs written during her travels, which included hitchhiking in Mexico with no Spanish on one occasion, befriending a band and staying for four days on another. Yet it was during her time in Northern Ireland that the arrangements that comprise her debut album came together.

Simon Green, aka Bonobo returns with his sixth album – the masterful, magisterial “Migration” – is a record which cements his place in the very highest echelons of electronic music and indeed, beyond. By turns lush, manic, beautiful, melancholy, joyful, packed with both emotion and technical skill, this is perhaps his most ambitious attempt yet to capture the very textures of human existence in his work, as Green says of the broad dynamics on the album, “Life has highs, lows, loud and quiet moments, beautiful ones and ugly ones. Music is a reflection of life.”

Café del Mar returns with truly exceptional volume this year. The album starts with a new rendition of Télépopmusik’s all time classic “Breathe” and takes the listener to an eclectic journey filled with Balearic beats. Volume 23 welcomes such legends as Brian Eno, The Cinematic Orchestra, Zero 7, Sasha and Bibio to the iconic series. Seasoned Café del Mar favorites Moby, Bonobo, Goldfrapp, Penguin Café and Blank & Jones are also present with brand new material. Expect a lot of sunshine, the best what downtempo has to offer and the reason why there’s nothing alike Café del Mar.
