The Bee Gees were a music group formed in 1958, featuring brothers Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb. The trio were especially successful as a popular music act in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and later as prominent performers of the disco music era in the mid-to-late 1970s. The group sang recognisable three-part tight harmonies; Robin's clear vibrato lead vocals were a hallmark of their earlier hits, while Barry's R&B falsetto became their signature sound during the mid-to-late 1970s and 1980s. The Bee Gees wrote all of their own hits, as well as writing and producing several major hits for other artists.

Set 3: Pennsylvania - July 22nd, 1992. 2008 repressing of this deluxe eight CD box set, subtitled From The Manticore Vaults. Four epic concerts make up this suitably extravagant box set by the unchallenged kings of Pomp-Rock, whose majestic three-way instrumental interplay laid down the blueprint for the Progressive '70s. Features shows from Hartford Civic Center (1977), Chicago (1978), Pennsylvania and Jones Beach (both from 1992), 61 tracks. Volume #4 seemed to have completely caught me by suprise. Out Of The blue[excuse the unintended pun]. I was indeed unprepared; Since I own volumes I-III; I had no choice but to buy this ELP set. Volume IV contrasts dodgy to somewhat good -great audio performances of ELP specifically comparing/contrasting the ELP years of 1977/1978/1992. It is a true sucessor to volumes I-III.

Rush was a Canadian rock band formed in Toronto in 1968, consisting of Geddy Lee (bass, vocals, keyboards, composer), Alex Lifeson (guitars, composer), and Neil Peart (drums, percussion, lyricist). After its formation in 1968, the band went through several configurations before arriving at its classic power trio lineup with the addition of Peart in 1974, who replaced original drummer John Rutsey right after the release of their eponymous debut album, which contained their first highly-regarded song, "Working Man".

Genre: pop rock

The Alf Bicknell Tapes gathers various Beatles tapes that had been discussed over the years and in fact had been released before in a number of ways. Bicknell was The Beatles' personal limo driver between 1964-1966, so he was able to witness the stardom and adventures John, Paul, George, and Richie had at the height of worldwide Beatlemania. In the 1980's, it was revealed he had some rare Beatles recordings and put them up for action. He had hoped to gain a good amount of money but ended up not getting as much as expected. Some of these tapes are personal demos, some of these are partial demo sessions, a few are of unknown origin but they have become a part of The Beatles' recorded legacy. The quality of each is mixed but as the saying goes, "it is what it is". This is done by the Remasters Workshop in 2010.

Dwell Records specializes in the nexus point where grunge, noise, psychedelia, and, most importantly, metal meet. Fitting then that they would release this tribute comp to Syd Barrett, the madcap wonder boy who in the late '60s had a hand in inspiring all those genres. The collection features artists who run the metal gamut. Stoner legends Pentagram deliver a dynamic "Flaming" while trance-metallers Jesu drive "Chapter 24" deeper into the cosmos than Pink Floyd ever did. Prog-metal kings Yakuza tackle "Lucifer Sam" while noisy underground dwellers Stinking Lizavetta lay a guitar-heavy "Matilda Mother." Some versions are better than others, but taken as a whole LIKE BLACK HOLES IN THE SKY proves the modern reach of Barrett's vision and the breadth of his songwriting.
