Brancusi

George Enescu shares with Liszt, Rachmaninoff and Busoni the misfortune of having been a very great virtuoso, both violinist and pianist, who has had to wait a long time before full justice is done to him as a composer. For their first disc, the three young members of the all-female Trio Brancusi present three piano trios by Enesco, including premiere recordings of the Trio in G minor and the Sérénade Lointaine.

In addition to being a world-class violinist, pianist, conductor, and teacher, George Enescu was a well-renowned composer. In fact, his most celebrated violin pupil, Yehudi Menuhin, made the prediction that Enescu’s compositions would become ‘one of the great discoveries of the twenty-first century’, and, indeed, in recent years Enescu’s works have become more widely performed.
