Brandee Younger release her second album on Impulse! Records, Brand New Life. Younger is quite often noted for standing on the shoulders of the very women who ushered in the harp as a clear and distinct voice in jazz: Dorothy Ashby. This record is an amalgamation of original pieces from Brandee and select reinterpretations of Ashby’s work. Brandee Younger represents a generation of contemporary improvisational musicians who came of age in an era when hip hop commanded a strong presence in American popular culture and emerged as leaders of a new school.

Brandee Younger is known for sharing the stage with Jazz Royalty Jack Dejohnette & Ravi Coltrane, laying down tracks with Grammy-Winning Rapper Common and Artist/Producer Ryan Leslie, as well as bringing to life the Classic Impressionistic work of Maurice Ravel. Her ability to feature the Harp in genres of music where the instrument is often absent demonstrates her cross-reaching ability as a musician. This new collection features 6 tracks of meditative and reflective tracks from the Harpist.

Brandee Younger is a performer, composer and educator. She leads her own ensemble and has worked with such musicians as Pharaoh Sanders, Lauryn Hill, John Legend, and Common.

Riding the ripples of their debut single “Escalator” (which BBC’s Gilles Peterson called “a winner,” and Supreme Standards’ Tina Edwards likened to “Radiohead on a Jazz trip”), Chicago collective Resavoir return with their first full length effort. The self-titled album presents a juicy suite of elegantly-orchestrated lo-fi jazz instrumentals germinated from home recording experiments by the group’s producer/arranger Will Miller.

In recognition of World Sleep Day, 22 established and up-and-coming artists have come together to unveil 50 brand new tracks. The musicians, coming from nine different labels within Universal Music Group, have debuted new compositions aimed at creating a tranquil environment conducive to a soothing night’s sleep.

Some of today’s most meaningful up and coming and established jazz artists pay homage to the iconic Beatles record “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band”. Musicians were given the challenge to create loose interpretation of these classic songs, and the result is impressionistic, original, avant-garde takes on legendary tracks like “With A Little Help From My Friends”, “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds”, “Getting Better”, and “A Day In The Life”. Keyon Harrold, Brandee Younger, Shabaka & The Ancestors, and Antonio Sanchez are just some of the amazing artists who have contributed to this project. This release will impress Beatles fanatics by highlighting the material in a brand-new light, while also showcasing some of the most exciting names in jazz today.

Acclaimed GRAMMY-winning multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter Meshell Ndegeocello makes her Blue Note Records debut with 'The Omnichord Real Book', a visionary, expansive, and deeply jazz-influenced album that marks the start of a new chapter in her career.
