Pianist David Hazeltine's previous albums have elicited comparisons to Oscar Peterson and Cedar Walton. But those whose first exposure to his playing is this trio recording for the Dutch Criss Cross label might walk away thinking more in terms of Bill Evans; for the most part, Hazeltine's playing here is elegantly restrained and quietly romantic, despite a noticeable undercurrent of intense emotion.

The studio-versus-stage argument will forever rage on in music, but it really shouldn't. Each setting has its advantages and disadvantages. The jazz community has forever favored the stage, as many feel that jazz is meant to be experienced and created in the moment, with artist(s) feeding off the room and creating here-and-gone sounds. That preference is completely understandable, but the studio has its advantages; clarity, balance, and the right working conditions can often only be found there.

Classic rock giants, The Guess Who, are back with their first studio album of new material in over 30 years. Features what could be the most rockin' line-up of the band since it's '60s heyday, anchored by original GW drummer Garry Peterson along with vocalist Derek Sharp, superstar bassist Rudy Sarzo (Quiet Riot/Ozzy), guitarist Will Evankovich, and multi-instrumentalist Leonard Shaw. Also featured on the album are several special guests including, Tommy Shaw (Styx) on vocals, Brent Fitz (Slash, Gene Simmons) percussion, Jim Kale (Guess Who founding member) and Michael Devin (Whitesnake) on bass guitar. The album includes the single "Playin' On The Radio".
