Bricks Are Heavy features the abrasive guitar riffs and punk inflections that gained L7 their following. "Pretend We're Dead" was the major hit from this album, and is the most commercial song of the lot; songs like "Wargasm", "Everglade", and "Slide" are aggressive, roaring rockers. While "Diet Pill" and "This Ain't Pleasure" emphasize the group's feminist slant, this takes a backseat to their music, which is the main reason to pick up this album. L7 isn't women who play rock and roll; it's a rock and roll band that happens to be made up of women.

In 1976 Carl Andre's sculpture Equivalent VIII, better known as 'The Tate Bricks', caused a national outcry. 'What a Load of Rubbish' screamed the papers, 'it's not even art'. Worse still, in the midst of a severe economic depression, the Bricks were paid for with taxpayers' money. One man was so outraged he went to the Tate Gallery and threw blue food dye all over at them. BBC Four marks the 40th anniversary with award-winning director Clare Beavan's entertaining and revealing documentary looking back at the creation of the sculpture - which consists of 120 fire bricks - and the frenzied outcry that followed.

Lori Lieberman is an American singer-songwriter who accompanies herself on guitar and piano. She first came to public attention in the early 1970s with a series of albums on Capitol Records, one of which featured the first recording of "Killing Me Softly". After a long hiatus, she resumed her recording career in the mid-1990s. "Bricks Against The Glass", her 15th album, features eleven songs composed and arranged by Lori Lieberman.

Digitally remastered and expanded: The Iron City Houserockers entered the music scene with their 1979 album "Love's So Tough", but their third album, "Blood On The Bricks" from 1981, has grown especially dear to the fans. Houserocker boss Joe Grushecky and Co. (Eddie Britt, Art Nardini, Gil Snyder, Ned Rankin and Marc Reisman) teamed up with legendary guitarist and songwriter Steve Cropper to create an album that also has its place in the heartland rock genre.
