Volume 4 in a critically acclaimed survey of Bonporti’s music reaches Op.6, perhaps the most overlooked treasure in the output of the ‘gentleman from Trento’. This was the nickname bestowed on himself by Francesco Antonio Bonporti (1672 - 1749), who was born in the northern Italian city, and made his career as a musician in the surrounding region before dying in Padova.

Carion, one of the most celebrated wind quintets in the world, returns to Odradek with its own take on Terry Riley's legendary In C, plus a new recording of a work for which the group has won much acclaim: Nielsen's Wind Quintet, re-recorded in 2022 to coincide with the work's centenary. 'In C' also alludes both to the name Carion and to their home of Copenhagen. The release is completed by Mozart's Divertimento No. 1, Renate Stivrina's A Cycle of Miniatures, 'A Man Without a Country', dedicated to Carion, and an arrangement of the ancient Danish song Dromte mig en drom i nat- the oldest notated Danish tune - made by the quintet's horn player, David M.A.P. Palmquist.

He laid the foundations for the Classical symphony: he helped establish the standard composition of the orchestra and promoted independence and individual timbres in his part-writing, while Baroque customs (most notably the basso continuo) gradually gave way to sonata form. In terms of repertoire and recordings, however, Sammartini is still a relative rarity; if you set aside his symphonies and start investigating his chamber music and works for solo instruments, for example, it is soon apparent that many enthralling compositions remain silently filed away in libraries and archives, waiting patiently for the recognition they deserve
