This CD is apparently taken from a concert that was part of the Bedrock series made by Central Music in the late 1980s, a series which also includes Asia, Rick Wakeman, Gong, Hawkwind and Uriah Heep. Personally I have no recollection of this series but the television broadcasts were a great success (it says here). It features the classic Caravan line-up of Pye Hastings, Richard and David Sinclair, Richard Coughlan with the ever reliable Jimmy Hastings on flute.

This is an excellent 2 disc collection of 2 live performances, one in '91 and the other in '02. both recordings and performances are excellent! The '91 show focuses on their first three releases while the '02 show has the Blind Dogs line up. The discs comes with a booklet. not much info in it but lots of pictures from the band. I love caravan's music. Richard Sinclair's vocals are so smooth and beautiful. I don't think he could sing a bad song ever. I enjoy the band's playing and violin work. This release is a pleasant surprise as i was thinking it would be bootleg quality, but it isn't.

A good concert by Richard Sinclair and Caravan of Dreams, recorded in Genova Italy in 1993 with a stunning and satisfying audio quality. A pleasant mix of Caravan, H&TN, Matching Mole classics and then new songs by Richard Sinclair.

Esoteric Recordings are pleased to announce the next release in their series of compilations celebrating the so-called “underground” rock music – “Taking Some Time On – Underground Sounds of 1970”, is a 4 CD clamshell boxed set which gathers together over five hours of music from 1970, the first year of a new decade that would see Progressive music in all its forms become a dominating force with the album-buying public. The innocence of psychedelia and the optimism expressed by such vast expressions of the Hippy ideal as the Woodstock Festival in New York State and the Hyde Park Free Festivals of 1969 in London were shattered by the violence of the Altamont Festival in California at the end of the year. As 1970 dawned, a more cynical tone began to appear in the counter-culture which was also reflected in some of the music by “Progressive” artists as some music got heavier or more anarchic. Jazz, blues, hard rock, folk and classical music influences melded together to form a diversity of music among so-called Underground artists, championed by “underground” figures of the day such as John Peel on his BBC Radio One show Top Gear.

With an impressive list of artists such as Yes, Rick Wakeman, Keith Emerson, Ian Anderson, Tangerine Dream, Caravan, Soft Machine, Premiata Fornería Marconi and many more, the Progressive Rock Trilogy provides the very best of this extensive genre in an organized fashion. This is without a doubt the most important compilation in the history of progressive rock. It is a must have for both novices to this type of music, which is one of the richest within the rock spectrum, and also for informed listeners who will be drawn to the classic hits and artists as well as hard to find gems like the A and B side of the single Ultima Thule by Tangerine Dream.

Over a career spanning more than four decades, Scottish percussionist and vocalist Ken Hyder has developed a strong body of work, though perhaps none so robust as his Talisker outfit. Combining Celtic and jazz influences, Talisker debuted in 1975 with Dreaming Of Glenisla on Virgin Records. Yet as Hyder’s musical interests began to expand to traditional Irish music and further to Asian monasticism, his sound opened itself to a world of possibilities. Enter album the second, Land Of Stone, which found a home on the JAPO label two years later.
