CLASSIC 1973 BROADCAST RECORDING FROM THE LOVE, DEVOTION, SURRENDER TOUR 1973 was a transformative year for both Carlos Santana and John McLaughlin, as they each entered periods of musical and spiritual change. Santana, following the enormous success that his ensemble achieved in the wake of their breakthrough performance at the Woodstock Festival in 1969, now wanted his recently found interest in the philosophy of Guru Sri Chinmoy, to be reflected in his music. Likewise, McLaughlin, a devotee of Chinmoy s too, wished for similar results. In a joint attempt to reflect their desires, in July 73 the pair released Love, Devotion, Surrender, an album inspired by Chinmoy s teachings, dedicated to John Coltrane. The record peaked at number seven on the UK album chart and at 14 on the Billboard 200, impressive feats considering its challenging nature. The album consisted of two John Coltrane covers, a traditional folk song, and a pair of McLaughlin originals. The duo subsequently toured together across the USA and Canada in 1973 and 1974, accompanied by a handful of world class musicians, including Billy Cobham on drums and the pioneering organist Larry Young, both of whom had appeared on the LP. On 1st September 73 the band played The International Amphitheater, Chicago, IL, a show which was recorded for a live FM broadcast in the United States. Featuring numbers from Love, Devotion, Surrender, plus a couple of rarities, in completion this performance provides for a veritable masterclass in improvisation and musicianship.

It is also the first new music to be released by Carlos Niño & Friends following the November 2023 release of André 3000’s New Blue Sun – an album which Carlos produced alongside André, while co-writing, co-creating/playing, and co-mixing every song.

Carlos Chávez is one of Mexico’s most important and prolific 20th-century composers. He championed the symphony form at a time when it was generally neglected by other Latin American composers, and the results are magnificent: when his first symphony Sinfonía de Antígona was premiered in 1933, invoking the best of Mexican tradition in a revived symphonic form, it received a rapturous reception, and led to a burst of inspiration for Chávez, who went on to compose five more symphonies before his death in 1978.

Live! is a 1972 live album by Carlos Santana & Buddy Miles. It was recorded on New Year's Day in 1972 inside of a dormant volcano, Diamond Head in Honolulu as part of a music festival. The performance was not Santana the band but Carlos Santana with a few members of Santana and some friends from the Bay Area (Neal Schon, Coke Escovedo, Gregg Errico, and Michael Carabello) plus drummer/singer Buddy Miles, simply having a vacation and taking a break. Consider this Santana's crossroad before entering his jazz fusion phase. This Columbia Legacy CD was released on 6 September, 1994.

Antônio Carlos Brasileiro de Almeida Jobim (25 January 1927 – 8 December 1994), also known as Tom Jobim, was a Brazilian composer, pianist, guitarist, songwriter, arranger, and singer. Considered as one of the great exponents of Brazilian music, Jobim merged samba with cool jazz in the 1960s to create bossa nova, with worldwide success. As a result, he is regarded as one of the fathers of bossa nova, and as one of the most-celebrated songwriters of the 20th century.

Carlos Peron Swiss musician, born 9 June 1952 in Zürich, Switzerland. Peron started making music with the band Yello but left in 1984 to concentrate on his solo works. He was also involved in some other projects like AMX 40 or Dark Ruler. Nowadays he's a well known producer for bands like Wolfsheim but he's also working on some weird erotic projects.

Carlos Rafael Rivera, Assistant Professor and Director of the Media Writing and Production program at the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami has teamed again with acclaimed writer/director Scott Frank to score the Netflix limited Series The Queen’s Gambit, which premieres October 23, 2020.

A fantastic recording of a live concert conducted by Carlos Chávez in May 1940 at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The program representis an important period in Mexican history, and ranges from a special arrangement of music for Aztec instruments of the 16th century to the popular Huapangos, the gay love songs of the Mariachi and the traditional Yaqui music.
