When the first concert of the series founded by the composer Karl Amadeus Hartmann (later designated as musica viva) took place at Munich's Prince Regent's Theatre on 7 October 1945, it marked the birth of an important new cultural event in post-war Germany. Up to the present day, this oldest concert series for New Music still brings together the world's most important artists - conductors and interpreters alike - in the field of new and the newest music, also continuing to set new standards for the interpretation of new classical music with the outstanding Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra.
This album is DA BOMB! From the opening number, Barretto sets the tone for the rest of the album, QVLM begins with a band fanfare intro that breaks into a descarga (guaguanco callejero), with Adalberto then joining in with tight vocals inspiring the rest of the band into painting for the listener one of the great dance numbers of all time. The other tunes are also treated with Barretto's always in the pocket and hip style of playing. Barretto always surrounded himself with the best musicians and this album was no exception. In the Arsenio classic, "Bruca Manigua", Ray pays homage to the roots, the tambor and his Afro-Caribbean heritage with his very relaxed but funky cha cha rendition of this Cuban musical staple. The next tracks, "La Pelota" and "El Tiempo Lo Dira" are Barretto/R. Rodriguez compositions that lend true legitimacy to Barretto's compositional and arranging talents.
For the first time ever, Def Leppard played their album Hysteria in its entirety during an eleven-show residency which started on March 22, 2013 at The Joint in the Hard Rock Hotel And Casino in Las Vegas. The band also opened for themselves under the fictitious name of Ded FlatTbird for two different sets on each of the nights. During those Ded FlatTbird sets, the band showcased some fan favorites and rare songs from the early years of the band in addition to playing a selection of their greatest hits, highlighting classic material from throughout their career. The Viva! Hysteriashow featured an elaborate set design created specifically for Def Leppard 's Las Vegas residency.
