…On this release Reiner and his orchestra are in glorious form. The quality of these Strauss family waltzes can survive even the most inept amateur and hand-organ grinder. In the hands of Reiner, however, the waltzes sound marvellous and are a real joy. Reiner was conducting in Vienna as early as 1915 and one can clearly hear that the Viennese stamp of authenticity is attached to these performances. The spirit of Vienna is also perpetuated with the Chicago Symphony having several Vienna-trained members at the time of these recordings. Reiner is able effortlessly to adapt to the contrasting moods and fast-changing tempos. He manages to deliver real excitement and an anticipation of what is to come next. He knows how to obtain the slight buoyancy on the second beat, an almost inaudible accent after an almost inaudible pause…

Real Gone Jazz reissued seven classic albums recorded in the late '50s and early '60s by tenor saxophonist Clifford Jordan: Blowing in from Chicago, Cliff Jordan, Cliff Craft, Spellbound, Starting Time, Expoobident, and It's Time. This is a great find for Jordan fans, but casual listeners would be better served by the single-disc reissues of Blowing in from Chicago or Cliff Craft, both released on Blue Note. ~ AllMusic Review by Al Campbell

"Chicago VI" is the 5th studio album by American rock band Chicago and was released in 1973. It is the first album to feature percussionist Laudir de Oliveira, who would become a full-fledged member of the band for Chicago VIII. Chicago VI was another commercial success, spending five weeks at #1 in the US. The band would not chart in the UK at all until 1976's Chicago X. The album was mixed and released in both stereo and quadraphonic. The original U.S. CD release (Columbia CK #32400) was mastered for CD by Joe Gastwirt. In 2002, Chicago VI was remastered and reissued by Rhino Records, with two bonus tracks: a Terry Kath demo called "Beyond All Our Sorrows", and a recording of Al Green's "Tired of Being Alone", taken from the 1973 TV special, Chicago in the Rockies.
