The record was produced by David and Charlie Andrew, best known for his work with ALT-J and Marika Hackman, with lyrics mostly written by Polly Samson, Gilmour’s co-writer for the past thirty years. The album features eight new tracks along with a beautiful reworking of The Montgolfier Brothers’ ‘Between Two Points’, which sees Romany Gilmour, who performs backing vocals across the album, on vocals and harp. Musicians contributing to the record include Guy Pratt and Tom Herbert on bass, Adam Betts, Steve Gadd and Steve DiStanislao on drums, Rob Gentry and Roger Eno on keyboards and the string and choral arrangements are by Will Gardner.

Recording live at New York's Blue Note club, Chick Corea unveiled another new group, the challenging Origin acoustic sextet, on this CD, winnowing down some 12 sets into an hour-plus package. With Steve Davis (trombone) and Bob Sheppard and Steve Wilson (flutes and reeds) up front, Corea had a flexible horn choir to write for, and he uses mellow, urbane voicings that recall some of the Herbie Hancock Sextet's early work in the late '60s. The interplay that Avishai Cohen (bass), Adam Cruz (drums), and Corea have with the horns, though, is anything but mellow, and frequently they strike combative sparks against each other. Some of the selections, including "Double Image" (no relation to Joe Zawinul's electric jazz classic) and "Dreamless," have Latin-ish grooves – which are no strangers to Corea's Spanish heart – in spots.

Three Visitors conjures ephemerality, the idea that we are all temporarily in this physical realm and that we can visit other equally transient realms through art and music. In this time and space, with improvisation as the constant, the three of us come together to visit and explore multiple currents and influences that are passing through us.

Candid Record Unveils Chick Corea: “Paint the World” Reissue. Candid Record Unveils Chick Corea: “Paint the World” Reissue It has been 30 years since Chick Corea, the 27-time GRAMMY winner and virtuoso keyboardist, unveiled his new incarnation of the Elektric Band, known as “Elektric Band II”. Today, June 28th, this 1993 release featuring guitarist Mike Miller, bassist Jimmy Earl, drummer Gary Novak, and saxophonist Eric Marienthal (the sole remaining musician from Corea’s previous Elektric Band iteration) is being released on Candid Records, available on all streaming platforms, CD, and for the first time ever as a 2-disc vinyl set. Recorded at Mad Hatter Studios in Los Angeles and primarily comprised of first takes, “Paint the World” is marked by Corea’s typical proficiency, spontaneity, impeccable execution, and jaw-dropping displays of chops that characterized his previous five Elektric Band albums. Written with these specific players in mind, the album is notable for its “less is more” approach to Corea’s particular style of genre-bending composition. This reissue is also notable for featuring “Final Frontier,” a rare track previously only available on Japan and Europe editions of the album.
