They say the night conceals many stories. China Moses is the narrator of the night; her new album ""Nightintales"" shines a fascinating light on her journey through night time's terrain. She conjures up images and moods with her warm, astonishingly flexible alto voice, as figures and places take shape in the listener's imagination. Eleven expressive songs recount the intoxication of love (Hang Over) and its bitter ending (Whatever), of vices (Nicotine) and passions (Put It On the Line), of awakenings and courage (Running). It's a sparkling kaleidoscope that blends jazz, soul, R&B, blues and pop into a multi-faceted whole. Her 2008 debut album ""This One's for Dinah,"" a tribute to the legendary Dinah Washington, established Chinas Moses as a major voice. Now recognized as a jazz and soul diva with her own style, Moses has no need to hide behind her idol. On her new album ""Nightintales"", China sings her own compositions. Chapeau! For the listener, many a pleasurable evening enjoying this rich, multi-hued jewel of an album lie ahead.

Her 6th studio album, Nightingales, is scheduled for released on march 31st 2017 (MadeInchina Productions / MPS Records) and sees China Moses team her songwriting talents with UK producer and songwriter, Anthony Marshall (Craig David ), who surrounded her with the “crème de la crème” of British musicians from the Soul Jazz scene: Luke Smith – Piano, Jerry Brown – Drums, “Level” Neville Malcolm – Bass.

The album easily makes up for its failings in the enthusiasm and good humor it conveys. It should have ended with "What A Diff'rence A Day Makes." Instead it closes with "Gardenias for Dinah," an embarrassing 50-second soliloquy by Lemonnier - very French, very solemn. Washington would surely have laughed her socks off.

"Mr. Freedom," the most recent offering from Gabin, is an eclectic mix of funky soul and ambient, groove-oriented jazz, all subtly (and sometimes not-so-subtly) set atop pulsing electronic beats. Think Moby's "Play" with even more of an edge. When the songs are good, they're really good. Standouts include the tribal-esque "Bang Bang to the Rock and Roll," (which sounds something like Fatboy Slim-meets-Paul Simon's "The Obvious Child,") and the fifth track, the steadily grooving "Midnight Coffee," which could practically be straight off of a St. Germain album. ~ Amazon

The original Gabin - a French actor known for his portrayals of jaded, faded anti-heroes in 1930s and '40s-era films - might have chuckled ironically if he had been told that, a half-century after his heyday, two Italian musicians would name a fledgling lounge music project after him. But if he had listened to the music, he would have understood. It's full of languid grace and melancholy and is undeniably stylish - exactly what you'd expect to hear in a Parisian café or supper club. Just to add to the effect, many of the song titles and lyrics are in French.
Gabin (2002). Milky, silken rhythms lace through this collaboration between Roman DJ Filippo Clary and jazz bassist Max Battini. Their perspectives find accord in the realm of what martini-addled old-timers might label "acid jazz"…

Sophomore album from Italian DJ Filippo Clary, and jazz bass player Max Bottini. Gabin slots perfectly into the enormously popular scene that can be described as Jazzy, Downbeat Grooves. Atmospheric retro flavours and funky rhythms paying tribute to the very best house music are just some of the ingredients that make the Gabin album a gem. Groovy music!

It's pretty obvious that Ronald Baker belongs "body and soul" to the prestigious family of the trumpet singers. Just like Louis Armstrong (the pioneer), nearly a century ago. With a natural gift, influenced by Eddie Jefferson and Jon Hendricks, this amazing jazzman knows what he owes to the great Nat King Cole: the unrivaled crooner of all times. This was bound to happen, the quintet directed by Ronald Baker had to pay him a vibrating tribute. With his long-time sidemen, and the presence of the great drummer Mario Gonzi and prestigious guests(the alto player Jesse Davis, the singers Michele Hendricks and China Moses), Ronald Baker has made it a beautiful jazz session with the Strings of the Alhambra Colbert Orchestra. Nat King Cole is still alive!
