Pierre Colin, a great unknown. The archives of the Basilica of San Petronio in Bologna contain a large folio (Bol SP A 48) devoted to masses that were clearly used frequently in the cathedral. Composers are not credited, but a study of the source shows that there are more works by Pierre Colin than by any other composer; four of his masses were copied here for use in the cathedral during the third quarter of the 16th century. The same is true of the archives of the cathedrals of Treviso, Toledo and even Guatemala City, which possess manuscript copies taken from printed originals of the masses and motets of a composer who seems to have spent his entire musical career in the Burgundian city of Autun. Who is this composer? How does one account for such success? How did he fit into the musical world of his day? What is distinctive about his style? These are questions we will try to answer in order to shed light on some of the works presented here.

Composer, improviser and multi-instrumentalist Colin Stetson is known for his powerful approach to the saxophone (bass saxophone in particular) and bass clarinet performances. His whale-like tone, circular breathing technique, and a trademark physical approach to getting sound from the saxophone's finger pads create both melodic and rhythmic pulses and and nearly endless exploratory possibilities.

Released in 1986, horror film Rawhead Rex was based on a short story by Clive (Hellraiser) Barker. Composer Colin Towns is not only one of Europe’s most prolific film, television and theatre composers, but also a pianist, songwriter, arranger, producer and collaborator. His name has graced the credits of many prestigious and popular features. "The first film I scored was Full Circle which starred Mia Farrow and is still in the BFI top ten for best score for horror films. I felt that film was more of a dark scary mystery. Rawhead Rex on the other hand was clearly a horror film 100%. I visited the film set in Ireland during the filming to take in the atmosphere and meet the actors after which I decided to record the music at CTS in London with a sixty piece orchestra plus electronics. I have always orchestrated my own work and had a wild time with Rawhead which is what I really love doing". Colin Towns
