Ghent based psych jazz collective Compro Oro, are set to release new album ‘Buy The Dip’ on the 2nd September via the groove-obsessed Sdban Ultra label. Having received critical acclaim for their 2020 album ‘Simurg’ – a collaboration with Murat Ertel, co-founder and frontman of Istanbul's cult psychedelic folk band BaBa ZuLa and his singer partner Esma Ertel – the band’s fifth album is less ethno- and more techno-logy, both on a musical and conceptual level. With tastemaker fans including BBC 6 Music’s Gilles Peterson and Stuart Maconie alongside Jazz FM’s Jez Nelson, the band’s spontaneous quest for psychedelic sounds and jazz grooves has not stopped expanding since their formation in 2014.

Il primo disco del duo composto da Giuseppe Zingaro e Vito Dell'Erba, coinquilini fuori sede e romani di adozione, si intitola "Troppoforte" e uscirà questo venerdì, 7 settembre. Protagonista della copertina è l'attrice Alice Pagani, già vista in "Loro" di Paolo Sorrentino e nel cast di "Baby" (la nuova serie di Netflix sulle baby squillo romane).

Un gioielliere senza scrupoli (forse il gestore di un negozio “compro oro” sarebbe stato più incisivo) decide di rapinarli ma i suoi sgherri devono fare i conti col fatto che Umberto non è assolutamente indifeso come sembra, essendo stato un istruttore dei corpi speciali, e soprattutto con Peg/Il Morto che arriva proprio da Rizzo dopo aver scoperto che il suo precedente contatto è deceduto.

La narrazione procede spedita e coinvolgente; come spesso accade in questo fumetto non mancano squarci iperrealisti sull’Italia contemporanea (i negozi Compro Oro…) e una certa carica di critica sociale. Molto bella la scena del treno. Purtroppo sul finale la storia accelera improvvisamente e si concede qualche digressione un po’ farsesca, comunque accettabile visto che alla fine il cattivo sembra redimersi e questo mi pare un tocco di originalità…

Dopo che i loro matrimoni li hanno portati al baratro svuotando i loro conti in banca, un gruppo di amici guidati da José, un padre divorziato, decidono di rapinare un negozio di "compro oro". Purtroppo per tutti, il giorno del colpo è anche il giorno della settimana in cui José può stare con il figlio Sergio di otto anni. Portandosi appresso il bambino, escono dal negozio con una borsa contenente 25 mila fedi nuziali ma hanno un'altra sgradita sorpresa quando non trovano più la loro macchina per la fuga: è stata presa dalla moglie di Antonio che doveva andare a fare shopping. Tuttavia, riescono a fermare un taxi guidato da Manuel, altra vittima di un matrimonio che lascia a desiderare. Dopo aver accantonato l'idea di fuggire in Marocco, optano per la Francia, in modo che José mantenga anche la promessa di portare Sergio a Disneyland. I 25 mila anelli diventano una maledizione reale quando il gruppo entra nelle foreste impenetrabili dei Paesi Baschi - luogo di antiche dimore e stregonerie popolato da un'orda di donne impazzite che si nutrono di carne umana - e si ferma a riposare per la notte in una misteriosa villa. Nel frattempo, non vedendo tornare il piccolo Sergio, l'ex moglie di José decide di mettersi sulle sue tracce dopo essersi rivolta inutilmente alla polizia.
